The Fur Plan

Hairless cat

Hairless cats and marks on fabric

Change this first
A hairless cat doesn't shed, so the marks on fabric are most likely skin oil, not hair.
Why

Without a coat to absorb it, skin oil ends up on whatever they lie on. If what you're seeing is clearly hair, it's coming from somewhere else — another pet, or clothing — and this plan won't help with that.

Today

Put any washable fabric you own where they lie most, and wash it when it starts to look marked. Wipe the cat down with a soft damp cloth every few days; ask your vet how often a bath is sensible for yours.

What you can stop doing

  • Brushes, rollers and hair-removal tools. Nothing to remove.
Only if you decide to buy something
Nothing.

Keep the fabric they lie on washable and the rest mostly looks after itself.

If the shedding has suddenly got much heavier, or there are bald patches, red skin or a lot of scratching, that's a vet visit first, not a cleaning plan.
