The Fur Plan

Curly coat · tufts along the floor

Curly-coated dog hair in tufts on carpet

Coats like this: Poodle, Labradoodle, Cavoodle, Goldendoodle, Bichon Frise, Spoodle, Groodle. Curly coats shed very little — loose hair stays in the coat and mats instead.

Change this first
Your curly coat barely sheds. The job is brushing to stop mats, not chasing hair.
Why

Curly coats hold loose hair in the coat instead of dropping it. What little lands in the house is easy to deal with; what stays in the coat turns into mats that need clipping out.

Today

Brush for a few minutes tonight with a comb or whatever brush you have, especially behind the ears, under the collar and in the armpits.

What you can stop doing

  • Hair-removal tools, rollers and 'de-shedding' products. There's no undercoat to pull out.
What comes next
  • Stray hair on fabric: a damp hand once a week is usually enough.
Only if you decide to buy something
A slicker brushFine, bent wire pins. Skip anything sold as a de-shedding tool.

We don't sell products or earn commissions. These are things to look for; the shopping is yours.

No hair plan needed. A brushing habit is the whole plan.

If the shedding has suddenly got much heavier, or there are bald patches, red skin or a lot of scratching, that's a vet visit first, not a cleaning plan.
